This week we've been talking about Pretoxing ahead of the silly season. And if prepping on the yoga mat like Gemma Arterton isn't your thing, how about Christmas shopping and cocktails in the Californian sunshine?
Or planning a Pretty Woman-style splurge in the January sales on Rodeo Drive?
It's over 25 years since the rags-to-riches movie swept Nineties Woman off her feet and convinced her that patent thigh-high boots = instant billionaire boyfriend.
But Beverly Hills remains one of the most glamorous things about LA (just ask Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who was snapped chowing down - or at least posing with - a burger and fries in the retro Beverly Hills hotel this week).
Just five miles from Hollywood, this upscale enclave is in fact its own little city, celebrating its 100th birthday in 2014.
The home of the OSCARS is NOT achingly cool (head to nearby West Hollywood if you want hip) but it IS unashamedly glitzy and a brilliant destination for a flashy mini break, assuming you're not on a working girl budget.
Detox|Retox spent a long weekend there living the Pretty Woman dream for the MailOnline (read the feature - including best shopping and spa picks - HERE) and when we weren't busy billionaire hunting or melting our credit cards found some super chic places to work out, go out and even get a wheatgrass juice at 4am (obvs)...
BEVERLY HILLS DETOX|
1. The Beverly Wilshire, A FOUR SEASONS Hotel
The third star of the Pretty Woman movie after Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, the Wilshire is still one of the most fabulous places to stay in California.
One of the city's oldest hotels, it offers classic service and guaranteed glamour from the moment you arrive (we pretty much fell over model Kate Upton at check-in as we were busy gawping at the Ferraris and Bentleys lining the sidewalk).
And while Viv and Edward quaffed champagne and scoffed steak in one of the $20,000 Wilshire Tower presidential suites, these days the hotel has a big focus on wellness with 'Skinny Eggs' and the like on the breakfast menu and a newly refurbished spa offering all kinds of high-end treatments.
There's also an adorable nail salon straight out of Clueless and an outdoor pool based on Sofia Loren's Italian villa where we spent many happy hours hiding in the cabanas and catching up on the latest self-help tomes while sipping soya lattes.
2. KREATION ORGanic Juice Bar and ATM
For breakfast on the run, stars like Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga head to organic juice bar kreation at the top of Rodeo Drive, which offers an impressive range of health food and drinks, including gluten-free cereals, charcaol-based hangover ‘shots’ and every type of cold-pressed juice you could want.
They also have a cold-press ATM.
Yes, that's a 24-hour juice hole-in-the-wall. For those 2am beetroot cravings that just won't go away (!)
Most Beverly Hills hotels have 24 hour gyms to cater for jet-lagged guests from the East Coast and beyond, but if you feel like taking it up several gears then head to a SoulCycle stadium spinning class, which may result in a Beckham spot and will certainly result in extra-toned buns.
The studio is just across the road from the Wilshire hotel but it's definitely worth booking in advance as even our 6am class was full. DON'T expect any empathy from your fellow early birds - Beverly Hills hardbodies think nothing of working out for two hours before breakfast. DO expect a lot of ‘whooping’ and off-bike twerking from the instructors.

1. The Montage Beverly Hills
Night owls staying in Beverly Hills would be best to head east to Hollywood in search of real after-hours fun BUT daytime boozing is an art the BH crew seem to have mastered. And why not when the sun shines for most of the year?
The bottomless brunches at The Rooftop Grill at The Montage are a brilliant way to spend a Saturday in classic Californian surroundings, with the warm, SoCal decor giving the place a relaxed and homely feeling while still offering superb people watching.
The hotel is also home to the stylish Scarpetta and Bar Bouchon restaurants and the brilliantly hip barbers Gornik & Drucker.
But, if you are on the hunt for an after-dinner drink in this part of town the intimate £10 Bar is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for whisky fans and their friends. The reservation-only speakeasy hidden above Scarpetta specialises in prestige whisky Macallan, and offers some of the most sought-after serves in the world. There's no menu and no official closing time, instead guests are invited to order what they want, when they want, and the £10's bar staff will stay serving as long as the last oligarch in the place is standing.
2. Sprinkles cupcake ATM...
Another bonkers ATM, this sprinkle-laced dream is - brilliantly - situated right next to the cold-press juice hole-in-the-wall off Rodeo.
The powder pink teller machine - aka the ultimate Instagram opp - offers 24-hour-a-day cupcakes and cookies to sugar addicts on the go.
3. THE POLO LOUNGE at the Beverly Hills Hotel
The delightfully kitsch Beverly Hills Hotel is this town’s must-see (and be seen) lunch venue.
Once you've arrived at the 'pink palace' and stopped gawking at all the beautiful people and awesome banana leaf wallpaper you should head straight to the Polo Lounge where, despite them serving the biggest industry wigs in town, the impeccably dressed and beautifully mannered staff will treat you like any other A-lister, even if you haven't a clue which wine to order or how to eat the oysters.
Ask for a table in the garden and try and act cool when you spot a supermodel pouncing on the (also awesome) $40 Wagyu Burger.
Rooms at the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel start at $475 per night.
Rooms at the Montage Beverly Hills start at $525 per night.
Air New Zealand return flights from London to LA in Economy from £476 per person and Premium Economy from £1,218.
