The #MiniMondayReview is a bite-sized, emoji-based class review featured on Toni's Instagram every week.

On the Detox|Retox blog we have a bit more room to give you the low down on the who/what/wear too.

This week = KOBOX, a boutique boxing class in Chelsea that combines HIIT techniques with hitting teardrop-shaped punch bags in a dark and dangerous studio.

WHO?

It’s no coincidence that I first heard about this studio from two of my hottest, fittest buddies. KOBOX has only been open for two months but is already drawing a South West London fitspo crowd hot enough to melt Instagram. The men have big shoulders and biceps on biceps, the women look like they have walked off a Victoria's Secret sport campaign. The good news is that the studio is dark enough to ensure the hardbodies can't see you wobble/throw up/cry.

WHAT?

A combination of a killer HIIT circuit and boxing moves on your own private punch bag to a banging soundtrack. Excellent stress relief and easy to work up a sweat even if you have zero boxing experience.

WEAR?

  • Designer Australian leggings from the uber cool Active In Style boutique just down King's Road
  • Wraps to wear under your gloves (need to be purchased from the studio, assuming you don't have)
  • A proper sports bra: Rocky-style skipping in a crop top = not ok with any kind of boobs
  • Boxing plaits

FITNESS LEVEL? 4/5

Intermediate - advanced. There's very little let-up in this class, if you're not boxing you'll be skipping, squatting or lunging - possibly all at the same time.

WILL YOU SWEAT? 3/5

A LOT if you do it properly, but there are places to hide in busy classes.

STUDIO STYLE? 3/5

The studio itself is slick and sexy and and the equipment all super high-end but the main areas are a bit grey and minimal.

MUSIC: 4/5

Depends on the individual trainers but always current, LOUD and designed to drown out the swearing from clients on round three of burpees.

FRIENDLY OR FIERCE? 50/50

Trainers hot enough to motivate you but not totally terrifying.
